Optimizing the Practice of Mentoring, University of Minnesota

The Clinical and Translational Science Institute at the University of Minnesota has developed a free online curriculum for the professional development and training of research mentors. The program entitled Optimizing the Practice of Mentoring. The mentor training program engages learners through text, audio, mini-presentations, self-assessments, and other interactive activities. Content is organized into the following five modules:

  • Mentoring models
  • Mentor roles and responsibilities
  • Structure and dynamics of the mentoring relationship
  • Strategies for facilitating the mentoring process
  • Strategies to address challenges in the mentoring process

You can register here for the online training program. Optimizing the Practice of Mentoring training program takes approximately 90-120 minutes to complete and learners can review the curriculum at their own pace.
