Anthony Shih, MD, MPH, is president of United Hospital Fund, an independent non‐profit organizaton established in 1879, whose mission is to build a more effectve health care system for every New Yorker. UHF conducts rigorous research and policy analysis, convenes diverse stakeholders to address critcal challenges in health care, and develops and supports innovatve programs that improve the quality, accessibility, affordability, and experience of patient care.
 
Dr. Shih previously held senior executve positons at several leading non‐profits, including executve vice president at the New York Academy of Medicine, executve vice president for programs at the Commonwealth Fund, and chief quality officer at IPRO. He began his medical career at a community‐based mental health clinic serving immigrant and refugee families in Oakland, CA. He is natonally recognized for his expertse in health policy, health system performance improvement, quality improvement, and populaton health, as well as for his commitment to serving vulnerable populatons. Board‐certfied in Preventve Medicine and Public Health, Dr. Shih earned a B.A. in economics Amherst College, Phi Beta Kappa; an M.D. from the NYU School of Medicine, Alpha Omega Alpha; and an M.P.H. from Columbia’s Mailman School of Public Health.
