Juneteenth Celebration | Embrace Ideas Festival Day 2 @ HMS: RACIALIZED HEALING
On Day 2 of Embrace Ideas Festival hosted by Harvard Medical School, keynote speaker Michael Curry, President and CEO of Mass League of Community Health Centers, joined Jeneé Osterheldt, culture columnist with the Boston Globe, to explore key learnings and lessons for us all to embody. The keynote session was followed by a panel. King Boston’s Director of Community Engaged Research, Dr. April Inniss welcomed Dr. Thea James, Boston Medical Center; Dr. Myechia Minter-Jordan, Carequest; and Joan Reede, MD, MPH, MS, MBA, Dean for Diversity and Community Partnership, Harvard Medical School.

Juneteenth at Harvard: A celebration of Black freedom, food, and family traditions
Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery across the nation and is often celebrated in African American communities with story telling, cooking special recipes, and reflection on history and fellowship. Harvard University closed on Friday, June 18, 2021, in observance of the holiday.

One Night in Boston | A Celebration of Juneteenth
A Special Edition of Nubian Nights presented by the Roxbury Cultural District & King Boston at Nubian Square. The evening featured musical performances, a film premier, and a tribute to Black Music Month. Events ran through the weekend, made possible by local organizations including the Harvard Medical School.
